Pedestrians urged to avoid Glen Burnie area following shooting incident
Anne Arundel County Police are investigating a contact shooting that took place in Glen Burnie Saturday evening.
Police posted to X shortly after 9:30 p.m., stating that the shooting had occurred at the 7700 block of Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard.
When officers arrived, they say both parties involved in the incident were still on the scene.
They urge all pedestrians to avoid the area as they complete the investigation, which remains active.
No additional details have been released.

Crime in the Eastern district of Glen Burnie remains relatively low in 2026, compared to 2025, according to AACO police data.
As of Thursday, April 16, the majority of crimes committed in the area are citizen robberies and residential burglaries.
Burglaries are trending upwards this year, with 21 incidents compared to 18 at this time last year.
Citizen robberies are up 900%, with 10 reported incidents in comparison to 1 at this time in 2025.
Shoplifting was the most frequent crime committed in the county in 2025, according to end-of-the-year police data.
Overall, for the majority of crimes, including assault, robberies, and sex offenses.
In the most recent incident reported by WJZ, a second grader accidentally shot himself in the hand after bringing a gun to school in Glen Burnie.
The seven-year-old's mother's boyfriend was charged after he left a loaded gun within reach of the minor, police confirmed.
Nine students were in the classroom at the time.
