18-year-old faces murder charge in deadly stabbing in Chelsea, Massachusetts

A teenager is charged with murder after a deadly stabbing in Chelsea, Massachusetts Thursday night.

Sergio Josue Castellanos was arraigned Friday in Chelsea District Court. 

According to the Suffolk County District Attorney's office, he stabbed a 25-year-old man from Chelsea several times in an incident at Chestnut Street and Everett Ave. just before 7 p.m. The man, who has not been identified, died following surgery.

Chelsea Police said when they arrived at the scene they found "multiple stabbing victims." Investigators did not have a specific number of victims, but said all were rushed to the hospital for treatment. There's no word yet what led up to the incident.

"At this time the names of all involved will not be released until further investigations are done and proper notifications are conducted," police said in a Thursday night.

People in the neighborhood told WBZ-TV they were shocked. 

"When we pulled up and I see everything blue like lit up with cop cars, we were a little bit spooked, you know startled," said resident Saul Alicea.

He goes to church across the street from where the stabbings happened, and knows the community well. 

"Everybody is close knit, everybody knows everybody," Alicea said. "On every corner is a Spanish store, a Spanish restaurant, we always buy food and talk for five to ten minutes about what is going on."  

"Chelsea detectives and Mass State Police detectives are currently working this very serious incident, and we are ready to utilize any and all of our resources to give our community the peace of mind our citizens deserve," Chelsea Police Chief Keith Houghton said in the statement.
