Man struck, critically injured, amid hit-and-run crash in Pontiac

A man was found lying in the street, critically injured, after the latest in a series of hit-and-run crashes under investigation in Oakland County, Michigan. 

The man, whose identity is not yet known, was struck by a truck Sunday night in Pontiac, the Oakland County Sheriff's Office said. The crash happened about 10:30 p.m. at the intersection of Perry Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. 

The vehicle, described as a white work truck, then fled the scene. 

The victim was taken to a hospital and is listed in critical condition. 

This is the seventh hit-and-run crash in Pontiac so far in 2025 that resulted in a serious injury or fatality, the sheriff's office said. Those instances included fatal crashes on Baldwin Avenue on July 3 and on Aug. 5 that are still under investigation. 

"It's hard to imagine the lack of humanity that lets people hit a person with a car and drive off," Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard said. "We are seeking the public's help to hold these people responsible. Someone knows valuable information and just needs to do the right thing and share it with our detectives." 

Deputies ask that anyone with information about one or more of the hit-and-run crashes contact the Sheriff's Office at 248-858-4950.
