Armed person shot, killed in Southwest Miami-Dade by deputies serving search warrant in child porn probe, officials say

A person was shot and killed and another was arrested at a Southwest Miami-Dade home early Tuesday morning while deputies were attempting to serve a search warrant regarding child pornography and sexual abuse investigation, according to the Miami-Dade Sheriff's office.

Miami-Dade Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz held a news conference on Tuesday morning while the investigation was underway and said the search warrant was regarding its Internet Crimes Against Children unit investigation which had been underway for a year.

In addition, Cordero-Stutz said the victims had ranged in age from infancy to 6-years-old.

The sheriff's office said that when law enforcement was arriving at the home in the area of SW 102nd Court and SW 155th Street, they announced themselves with a loudspeaker.

An investigation is underway in Southwest Miami-Dade after a shooting took place early Tuesday morning, according to the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office.

They were able to make contact with two adults and a child at the door, and they were safely removed from the area, according to the sheriff's office.

At that point, the sheriff's office said, an armed person came to the door and confronted deputies, and that's when deputies returned fire.

Aid was immediately rendered to the person who was shot, but they did not survive, according to the sheriff's office.

After that incident, the sheriff's office said that deputies were also able to remove another person from the home and placed them into custody.

No deputies were injured in the incident, according to the sheriff's office.

The shooting is now under investigation by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
