Tropical Storm Cindy trekking across Atlantic, Tropical Storm Bret peaks

MIAMI -- Tropical Storm Cindy has gained a little strength over the Atlantic Ocean.

As of Friday's 11 a.m. update, Cindy was about 915 miles east of the Lesser Antilles with sustained winds of 50 miles per hour. It was moving to the west-northwest at about 16 mph.

Cindy is expected to remain east and northeast of the northern Leeward Islands through early next week.

Cindy will strengthen a little over the next several days and then gradually weaken afterward. It will likely be a post-tropical cyclone by next Wednesday.  

There are no coastal watches or warnings in effect so far for the storm. 

Cindy is not a threat to Florida.

Tropical Storm Bret is moving westward over the eastern Caribbean Sea at about 21 miles per hour with maximum sustained winds of 60 miles per hour. Rain and gusty winds linger in portions of the Lesser Antilles.

Cabrera said Bret is expected to dissipate over the central Caribbean Sea by Saturday night or Sunday.
