Gas leak in Chaska contained, street remains closed after line ruptured

CHASKA, Minn. — A natural gas line rupture in Chaska Thursday morning caused residents to evacuate their homes and a street to temporarily close, police said.

At 12:37 p.m., the Chaska Police Department said CenterPoint had contained the leak at Stoughton Avenue and Heldt Street, allowing residents to return to their homes.

Stoughton will remain closed between Zemble and Ringenbach streets for "a few more hours" the department said.

CenterPoint said the line was struck "by a third-party unrelated to the company" and it is working to repair the pipe "safely and as quickly as possible to minimize the number and duration of outages."
