Season's coldest air arrives in Twin Cities; more cold, light snow chances ahead

Clear skies are nice, but they will allow overnight temperatures to fall to a low of minus 6 degrees in the Twin Cities on Wednesday night. Feels-like temps will be closer to minus 15 to minus 20.

These are the coldest temps the metro has experienced since Feb. 19, 2025. That's nowhere near record cold, though, with records in the minus 10s and minus 20s this time of year.

Thursday and Friday will be milder with highs in the 10s, then 20. Flurries are possible both days.

The NEXT Weather Team is watching the potential for accumulating snow on Saturday, but there are conflicting signals, so we're just watching at this point.

Models show everything from zero snow and clear skies to 3 to 6 inches of snow, with stubborn model disagreement for the last two days. Stay tuned.

Sunday will be dry regardless of what happens Saturday, but may stay below 10 degrees all day.

Next week will be milder with highs in the 20s, but there are more snow chances on both Monday and Tuesday.
