Human remains found near Wissahickon Creek, Philadelphia police say

Human remains were found in a wooded area near Wissahickon Creek Monday night, Philadelphia police said. 

The remains were found near Wissahickon Creek and Germantown Avenue at around 6:41 p.m., according to police.

Police said officers responded to the scene and found the skeletal remains of an adult. 

The remains were taken to the Philadelphia Medical Examiner's Office, where staff will work to identify them.
