Aaron Rodgers says "no deadline" on decision about future with the Pittsburgh Steelers

It's still a mystery as to whether Aaron Rodgers is going to return to the Pittsburgh Steelers next season and the veteran quarterback said Wednesday that he hasn't placed a deadline on the decision about his future.

Rodgers, 42, spoke publicly for the first time since the end of the Steelers' season on Wednesday when he ."

During his interview on the show, the veteran quarterback said while he's been in contact with the team, the Pittsburgh Steelers haven't given him a deadline for him to let them know his intentions or plans for the upcoming season. 

"There's been no deadline that's been put in front of me," . "There's no contract offer or anything, so there's nothing that I'm having to debate between. I'm a free agent. I'm enjoying my time with my wife and enjoying this part of the offseason and I think there's conversations to be had down the line, but right now, there hasn't been any progressive conversations.

Rodgers went on to praise Mike McCarthy, who was hired earlier this year to replace Mike Tomlin, who stepped down after nearly two decades as head coach of the Steelers. 

"I love Mike, and Mike and I have kept some contact over the years," Rodgers said,," adding that he's an "exceptional human being with a big heart."

In his lone season with the Steelers, Rodgers threw 24 touchdowns and 7 interceptions, leading Pittsburgh to an AFC North division title, losing in the wild card round of the postseason to the Houston Texans.

at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, March 11 and teams are allowed to begin negotiating with agents for unrestricted free agents starting on Monday, March 9.
