Fans Reveling In Penguins' 2016 Stanley Cup Win

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Thousands of Penguins fans gathered on Carson Street on the South Side to watch their team

The day after, though a little bleary-eyed and tired, there's no shortage of Penguins fans celebrating their team.

It was a night perfect for a victory. Penguins fans on the South Side in bars and along Carson Street watched, waited and hoped for the hometown team to win the Stanley Cup Championship. And when they did, cheers could be heard for hours.

"It was really, it was fun," said Isabelle Soares, who lives on the South Side. "It was super funny. Fans are crazy. It was a good time."

The morning after, as Carson Street was being cleaned, fans were reveling the Penguins win.


"I was hanging last night, I was hanging," said Brandon Morrissey, as he ate breakfast at O'Leary's on Carson St. "I took the night off to watch this game, hoping that we brought it home and we did it."

"I told my son they were going to win in six," said Howard Parrish, who lives in Oakland. "That's what I told him."

Mike Bohichick had already purchased a 2016 Penguins Stanley Cup Championship hat before he arrived at O'Leary's for breakfast. He recalled the excitement from Sunday.

"It was wall to wall people up there, the same for every playoff game," said Bohichick. "It was crazy, same for every playoff game and everybody was naturally out in the street after they won."

Ralph Hohloch traveled to Pittsburgh from Switzerland last week, for game five of the Stanley Cup final

"All the way from Switzerland just for the game," said Hohloch, "Because I'm a huge Penguin fan and I had to do that."
