Missing 12-year-old Irving girl found safe in Alabama, police say

IRVING – A 12-year-old Irving girl who was last seen walking away from her home Sunday morning turned up safe in Alabama, police said late Monday morning.

The girl had last been seen on Harlan Street, near South Nursery Road around 10 a.m. on Feb. 9. Police said she was on her way to a birthday party but never showed up.

Officials said they were not able to issue an Amber Alert or Athena Alert as they had reason to believe the girl was in a different state.

Irving PD said she was found with the assistance of police in Madison, Alabama, which is just outside Huntsville. 

The girl was found with a juvenile male, police said, but they have not yet decided whether to file charges.
