Shelter-in-place order lifted after Irving shooting suspect evades arrest

IRVING –  A shelter-in-place order and heavy police presence, including SWAT teams, on Friday, resulted from police attempting to arrest a suspect who remains at large after an early morning shooting left two injured, according to Irving police.

The suspect in the shooting, Luis Enrique Moreno, was not in his apartment in the 800 block of Lake Carolyn Parkway when authorities converged, police said.

Moreno, who is facing aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charges, is now actively being sought by police. He is accused of a shooting that occurred at about 4 a.m. Friday in the 1100 block of Hidden Ridge, authorities said.

Police set up a perimeter near Moreno's residence, obtained arrest and search warrants, and issued a shelter-in-place order for nearby residents.

"When the suspect's car was discovered, officers began setting up a perimeter, while obtaining the necessary arrest and search warrants," Irving police said in a news release. "Out of an abundance of caution, residents in the area were asked to shelter in place while the operation took place."

The shelter-in-place order was lifted after Moreno was not found in his apartment.
