Charlotte Bacon was one of 26 people killed on Dec. 14, 2012, at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut. Inside her bedroom, a chest overflows with teddy bears and a Hello Kitty inflatable. A diploma she received months earlier for getting a gold belt in Tae Kwon Do is pinned to her bulletin board. Her room still holds the last library book she checked out, now 12 years overdue.
